Wine rose of Vinodol 2024 & Bribir makarun Festival are starting! Hurry up to Bribir!

If you have no plans for this weekend, know that from today until Sunday, you can enjoy two related events that will certainly be interesting to witness. It is, as you could have read in the title, about the Wine Rose of Vinodol 2024 and the Festival of Bribir makarun (pasta)!

Wine Rose of Vinodol is an event that revives the centuries-old tradition of choosing the most beautiful and most valuable girl among grape pickers, a custom that originates from the reign of the noble Frankopan family in Vinodol.

According to stories, after the end of the harvest, the girl who would be declared the most beautiful and the most diligent would be crowned with vines and ceremoniously taken to the city to the sounds of folk music. The last time this custom took place was in 1880, and today’s Wine Rose of Vinodol (cro. Ružica Vinodola) is based on that ancient story, in a modernized version.

Contemporary Wine Rose of Vinodol takes place at the end of August and lasts for several days, i.e. from August 22 to 25. During the event, 12 girls will participate in a series of attractive games related to viticulture and winemaking, which start today at 8 pm.

A particularly exciting program awaits you in Bribir, where on Friday, August 23, a show competition of past winners in making makarun (type of pasta) will be held. This event will take place on the summer stage in front of the Turan Tower, and all contestants will have the task of kneading as many makaruns as possible in a limited time, while the expert jury will evaluate their appearance.

In parallel with this competition, visitors will be able to enjoy a musical performance by Damir Kedžo, and members of KUD Bribir will prepare and demonstrate the making of Bribir makarun, which everyone will have the opportunity to taste in front of the municipal building.

On Saturday, August 24, a gastro show by Antonija Mikac from MasterChef will also take place in Bribir, where visitors will be able to taste macaroons prepared in her way.

Wine tasting will be possible at Pavlomir Winery and Eco Village Selce, and with the payment of the registration fee, the visitor will also receive a fork for tasting and a napkin that will remain as a souvenir and reminder of these wonderful events.

The entire program of the event begins on Thursday, August 22 in Pavlomir, with the opening ceremony on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of Wine Rose of Vinodol, accompanied by the klapa Kampanel and B band. On Friday, in addition to the already announced program in Bribir, Dellboys will also perform in Novi Vinodolski.

Saturday brings more competitions, a gastro show by Antonija Mikac, and entertainment with Berekina and DJ Saša Šoštarić in the center of Novi Vinodolski. The event will end on Sunday, August 25, with the performance of the Trend group and the continuation of the entertainment program.

During all days, visitors will be able to enjoy the fair of old crafts and local products as well as the wine festival.
