An excellent lunch awaits you at the restaurant Raj!

This weekend, lured by the promise of heavy snow, we headed to the Papuk Nature Park and Jankovac Forest Park in search of winter fun – snowball fights, sledding, and snow crunching were our main missions. Of course, after such an exciting trip, we had to find the perfect place for lunch.

Since we had called a dozen restaurants the day before, anticipating a big crowd, we ended up discovering the Raj restaurant in the small place called Medinci, not far from Slatina. Although it diverted us from the shortest route home, we knew this was an opportunity we couldn’t miss – who knows when we’ll have the chance to visit this place again.

You might not be impressed when you search for this place on the Internet, but that’s why we’re here to thoroughly investigate and share our impressions with every potential visitor.

Finally, when it was time for lunch, we ran from the parking lot to the table, eager to warm up with a few rakijas and good food.

A look at the menu revealed a rich offer of traditional dishes – from various meat platters with pork and chicken, through grills, salads, and side dishes, all the way to squid, trout, soups, and delicious desserts.

A meat platter for two arrived at our table, sumptuously served with different types of meat. We also ordered a juicy veal steak with baked potatoes and a stuffed breaded chicken breast, also served with crispy baked potatoes.

We pounced on it like we had never eaten before, and each of us was soon looking up with that familiar “approving” look. You know that feeling when you know everything, but you can’t say a word with your mouth full? Well, that’s exactly what it was!
Every piece of meat was perfectly cooked, juicy, and as big as an elephant’s ear – enough to really fill you up. The baked potatoes and croquettes were excellent, and the salad was incredibly fresh and tasty. There was nothing to complain about – everything was just right. The service was friendly and helpful, and the owner of the restaurant was extremely pleasant and attentive.

As for the prices, we think it’s quite fair and okay, but here are the numbers so you can judge for yourself. Three brandies for 4.50 euros (1.50), one soda for 2.40 euros, meat platter for two 26 euros, stuffed chicken breast 9 euros, veal steak 10 euros, baked potatoes 3 euros per portion, salad 3 euros, and a bottle of the green Silvanac 30 euros. All in all for 4 people, 94 euros.

Considering the quality of the food, the portions, and the pleasant atmosphere, we think the prices are completely justified, so if your trip ever takes you here, know that the restaurant Raj is approved by us.
