Boka night, which takes place every year in August, is an event with a long history dating back to the 19th century. This event was created as a kind of festival for local sailors, and over time it developed into a spectacle that celebrates the rich tradition of Boka Kotor Bay. They say that the inspiration came from Venice, which started its “Venetian Night” at the end of the 18th century.

The most famous part of Boka night is the parade of decorated boats, which, sailing through the Bay of Kotor, represent a real sea of imaginative and humorous creations. Each boat competes for the title of the most creative, and viewers can enjoy the colorfulness and imagination with which the owners of the ships have decorated their floating works of art that send various messages.
But Boka night is not only a competition in creativity. It is also an opportunity to enjoy music, dances, and traditional cuisine, while the entire coast of Kotor comes alive in a unique atmosphere. The town of Kotor, with its stone streets and historic walls, provides the perfect backdrop for this event, creating the impression that you have stepped back in time as the lights that decorate the old town illuminate the way.
Like every year, this year as well, Boka Night will be held at the end of August, on the 24th of this month. Organized by the Kotor Cultural Center with the help of the Municipality of Kotor and the Tourist Board of Kotor, after the presentation of the most imaginative boats, they also prepared a concert by Danijela Martinović, with whom locals and visitors alike will be able to sing in unison until late into the night.
As the icing on the cake, there will be equally colorful and magical fireworks just like every year.
