Hero and Una no longer dive!

If you want to know more about the nautical history of Boka Kotor Bay, then the correct address is the Collection of Maritime Heritage in Porto Montenegro in Tivat, where among more than 300 exhibits you can see two submarines from the JNA era – Hero (P-821) and Una (P-912)

 

The Navy of the former Yugoslavia had a fleet of as many as 13 submarines, most of which were scraped into metal. However, Hero and Una are not, so they serve as interesting tourist exhibits.

The submarine Hero is 50.4 meters long, 4.7 meters wide, and 9.75 meters high. This warship weighs 706 tons and was built in 1967 at the Special Facilities Shipyard in Split.

In almost 23 years of active service, the submarine Hero had a total of 910 dives and traveled 46,659 nautical miles, which is the equivalent of sailing twice around the globe.

It could dive to a depth of 200 meters, and the crew consisted of about thirty sailors.

Submarine Una is a small sabotage submarine built in the eighties of the last century and was used for laying mines or for secret sabotage missions.
