It’s Advent time! Who’s up for something sweet?
Are you heading to Osijek during the Advent season? Why not! The city is beautifully decorated, especially the old part of the city—Tvrđa. There is also a house of good wishes, which you must enter and wish for something nice for the year 2025!

But this isn’t another fritters and mulled wine story, although I’m not shying away from that either! This is still a (too) sweet story about a pastry shop with a great atmosphere and dark cakes.

Petar Pan pastry shop is therefore located in Tvrđa, but there is another one in another location, which is not really important for this story of mine, but it is decent to mention it. You can’t bypass this one because the building will surely attract your attention with its color, Christmas decorations, and lights.
In the courtyard, there is also a beautifully decorated space for Advent, which is great for children as well as for us elders, but since it was relatively cold, we chose the cake tasting indoors.

I admit, I have a weak sweet tooth and when I saw such a beautifully decorated pastry shop, I firmly crossed my fingers that the cakes were like that too. A beautifully decorated and filled space and the crowd almost guaranteed that this was indeed the case.

Before I even looked for a free table, I went straight from the entrance to the showcase with sweets. At first, the selection of cakes didn’t look too big, but deciding which cake or cake to choose was quite a difficult task! After all, take a look yourself!

We chose several types of cakes to try as many as possible, and the collective impression of the team is that the cakes are excellent. You can’t go wrong with whichever one you choose because each one has something that makes it special. Here’s what we tried!

Of course, there was also coffee, it goes with one another together like a finger and a nail, one cannot do without the other. Along the way, we were wondering what the others were eating, so we almost ordered the chestnut puree as it was so appealing. Prices are moderate – cakes for 1.60 and 1.80 euros and coffees for 1.30!
Basically, my advice to you is to go visit Advent in Osijek and if, like me, you like something sweet, then stop by Petar Pan!
