Kolonat – what is it?

The capital of Albania, Tirana, is probably the only capital of a country in Europe where there is no McDonald’s. But that’s why there is a local version of a fast-food restaurant called Kolonat. Even their logo is similar! Okay, and what’s the food like?

On TripAdvisor, Kolonat is called the Albanian McDonald’s, because of the similar menu (ex. Happy Meal from McD is called Happy Kids here), similar logo… simply everything is similar! It’s the same thing with Big Macs and other foods.

And the taste? Some praise it, some think it’s a bad copy of McDonald’s, and my advice to you is, if you are already in Albania, try it and see for yourself. The prices are really not expensive, the menu is about 450 lek (or about 4 euros), so rush in. The only thing is, you won’t get Coca cola but Pepsi as a drink, but that’s not that bad. 🙂 Good appetite!
