Impressive remains of the Roman Empire! The bridge on Moštanica is the oldest in Montenegro
It is impressive to see all kinds of influences from ancient empires in today’s world. One such is the Roman influence on Montenegro, leaving behind a Mostanica bridge.

Mostanica (Moštanica) is a Roman bridge considered to be the oldest bridge in Montenegro, dating back to the 3rd century. The bridge is located on a side road on the way from Nikšić to Trebinje. According to archaeological findings, the bridge was part of the route that led from Epidaurus via Risno, Grahov, Riječani, and Nikšić to Skadar.
This Roman bridge is 31 meters long and consists of five large semicircular arches that rest on massive pillars. Throughout time, it was demolished and repaired several times, either due to war destruction or from old age. However, it kept its original shape.

The purpose, according to findings was to connect the local Roman village and was crossed by foot or small wheels. Today is one of the most important findings and cultural monuments that attracts many from all over the world.
