This very interesting lake is located in the very east of Bosnia and Herzegovina, not far from Srebrenica, on the natural border with Serbia, which was created along and across by the Drina.

Perućac lake was created in 1966 in the Drina canyon by the construction of a dam for the needs of the Bajina Bašta hydroelectric power plant. The dam, 90 meters high and 460 meters long, created a unique lake with an area of 12.5 square kilometers and a depth of up to 60 meters.
As much as 55 kilometers long, Perućac lake has the smallest width of 150 meters, and the largest as much as one kilometer.

With the construction of the dam, the lake has become a habitat for diverse flora and fauna, including various fish species such as catfish and chub, and an excellent place for fishing.
Due to the beauty of the lake, the lush greenery of the Drina canyon, and Tara mountain, the area became attractive for the construction of numerous illegal structures, so by 2020 there were several thousand of them, mostly without proper permits. Although there were several attempts to demolish these structures, the action never dawned due to the lack of support from the ruling organizations.

In addition to the houses on the water, Perućac has beaches and various facilities such as canoes, boats, and designated fishing spots, which can be enjoyed by both young and old.
During the summer months, various interesting events are organized here. The Pančić regatta, held for many years at the beginning of August, is one of the most important events on the lake.
Also, various swimming, diving, and tug-of-war competitions are held there.
The right place to enjoy the whole summer, right? Be sure to visit it!
