The Blue Eye is a phenomenon that delights all those who visit Albania

Syri i Kaltër, also known as the Blue Eye, is a natural spring located in very south Albania, close to the village of Muzinë, approximately 22 kilometers from the city of Saranda and 35 kilometers from everyone’s favorite Ksamil. This popular tourist destination due to its beauty and clear blue waters is a must-visit in Albania.

The Blue Eye Spring

The main attraction is the Blue Eye itself, which is a spring formed by an underground river. The water is incredibly clear and blue, making it look like an actual “blue eye.”

Walk around the Area and Relax

There are paths and walkways around the spring, allowing visitors to explore the surrounding natural beauty. You get to have a nice walk through the lush greenery and take in the fresh air. The area around Syri i Kaltër is perfect for a relaxing day outdoors. Many visitors come here for a picnic with friends and family.

Those who prefer a guided tour can also choose one of the local guides who will take you through this area and provide insight into the geological formation of Blue Eye and local folklore.

 

Swimming

While swimming is not allowed in the Blue Eye, some visitors may take a dip in the water. Keep in mind that the water is exceptionally cold and extremely deep, so exercise extreme caution if you choose to swim.
