Modeled after lightscaping experiences in botanical gardens and parks around the world, the Festival of Lights Sarajevo is a unique event in this area. It is designed as a light park where you will experience moments of inspiration and true happiness.
The first edition of the Festival of Lights Sarajevo at the National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina will be held from November 25, 2023 (BiH Statehood Day) to March 1, 2024 (BiH Independence Day).
This is exactly the period of the winter holiday season, when, in addition to the mentioned two extremely important dates for the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina, numerous holidays of the people who live in these areas are also celebrated.
It can be said that light, in the broadest sense of the term, is what connects all these holidays.
This year’s display of the Festival of Lights Sarajevo mostly represents the flora and fauna of these areas, especially those species that are threatened with extinction.
Thus, the Botanical Garden of the National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina is filled with light sculptures of bees and butterflies, flocks of birds and fish, frogs, turtles, colorful flowers and plants… but also with lamps placed on trees and plants, which perfectly fit into the environment and complement it creating a wonderful atmosphere.
