What is very interesting is that while walking around Lecce, you will immediately notice how it is characterized by a specific color. This city is built from the local limestone, known as “leccese stone”, a golden-yellow stone that simultaneously allows craftsmen and artists to shape it into detailed, ornamental figures, and the city shines under the southern sun.

• Charles V Castle: This imposing castle, built in the 16th century for Emperor Charles V, today serves as a museum and space for cultural events. Here you can discover historical relics and enjoy occasional exhibitions of contemporary art.
• Piazza del Duomo: One of the most beautiful squares in Italy, surrounded by the cathedral, the bishop’s palace, and the bell tower. The square, which is often illuminated in the evening, provides a special atmosphere and is a great place to relax and enjoy the Italian atmosphere.

• Porta Rudiae: The old city gate, restored in the 18th century, in the form of an arch topped by statues of saints.
• Loffredo Adorno Palace: a fascinating example of Renaissance architecture with a rich history dating back to the mid-16th century.

As a true gourmet’s paradise, Lecce will not disappoint you. Apulian cuisine is based on fresh, local ingredients and simple but delicious dishes. Be sure to try the orecchiette, a local type of pasta usually served with tomato and broccoli. If you have a sweet tooth, also try the pasticciotto, a sweet pastry filled with cream, which is a true classic of Lecce.

Among the wines, there are varieties such as Primitiva (known as Zinfandel in Croatia) and Negroamar, which perfectly complement the gastronomic offer of this region.
