Unbelievably beautiful pastel green Kreda Lake

Only 12 kilometers away from one of the most famous lakes in Slovenia and Europe, Lake Bled,  and 14 km away from Peričnik waterfall a beautiful, picturesque, and not-so-popular lake in pastel green color is located.

Lake Kreda (Chalk) is a man-made lake in Radovna Valley which besides its striking pastel green color is believed to have health benefits as well. The lake is a hot spot for locals over summer and many of them head to this magical lake in the heart of Triglav National Park either for a swim or a picnic.

This adorable lake was dug for the purpose of the chalk ( slo. kreda) excavation site of a cement factory nearby and once it stopped in the 1980s, the water eventually filled the lake forming the pastel green color. The lake today is privately owned by available to anyone wishing to pay a visit.

Although swimming in the lake is allowed, all visitors must be very cautious. Lake Kreda is very cloudy from the chalk, deep in some spots, and rocky which can cause unwanted injuries if you don’t enter with precaution.

If you wish to visit the lake during winter, Lake Kreda is a great place for ice skating as well.
