Ptuj Castle, also known as Ptuj Grad, is a historic castle dating back to the 11th century, however, sources claim it was even settled in the 5th millennium BC. Its history is pretty long and well-preserved, and it reflects the evolution of defensive structures based on the needs of its occupants over the centuries.

Today, this castle serves as a complex of museums and galleries, such as the Ptuj Ormož Regional Museum, and the Ptuj Castle Gallery.  So by visiting this castle, you will be able to see a wide range of artifacts and exhibits that provide an overview of the region’s history and culture.

In addition to museum and gallery exhibits, you will also come across various hosted temporary exhibitions by local and international artists throughout the year. Ptuj Castle also hosts other types of cultural events such as the Kurentovanje festival, a traditional Slovenian carnival celebration.

The visit to this castle really impressed me, so I am sure it will do the same for you, especially if you enjoy investigating the history and culture of Slovenia and its region.

The entrance fee to Ptuj Castle is 10 euros for adults, 5 euros for students, and free for children. If you wish to visit it as a family, the fee is 20 euros. Some exhibitions are charged additionally and separately.

I plan to live in the moment :)
