What is Floorball and where can you enjoy it?

We probably all know what ice hockey is, but I’m not sure how many of you know what Floorball is. An important similarity between these two sports is the stick with which this very dynamic game is played.

The game was invented in Sweden in the late 1960s. The basic rules were established in 1979 when the world’s first floorball club was founded in Sweden.

Floorball is played with a plastic ball with holes 70-72 mm in diameter, while ice hockey is played with a puck. In floorball, each team has five players and a goaltender, while in ice hockey, each team has six players and a goaltender.

In floorball players use 96-115.5 cm long sticks, while in ice hockey sticks are 100-130 cm long. Floorball matches are played in three periods of twenty minutes each.

Where can you watch floorball? In Škofja Loka, from January 31 to February 4, the world men’s championship qualifiers will be held, in which five national teams will participate – Belgium, Denmark, Italy, Switzerland, and Slovenia.

In the heated Poden hall, Slovenian boys will be chasing first place among the world’s floorball elite, and there, you can get to know the rules better.

In addition to sports matches, fans can enjoy a rich accompanying program.
