When I think of Italy and food, here are the three first things that come to mind;
Pizza: An original Italian dish that has spread all over the world, pizza is a symbol of fast and delicious food. Traditional Italian pizza has thin dough with minimal but high-quality ingredients such as tomato sauce, mozzarella, fresh basil, and olive oil. The variety of pizzas is great, but the basic idea is simplicity and a perfect combination of ingredients. Napolitana is certainly more famous.

Pasta: Italy is known for its varied and delicious pasta. Various forms such as spaghetti, penne, fusilli, or ravioli are usually served with rich sauces such as ragout, carbonara, or pesto sauce. Pasta is an indispensable part of Italian cuisine that exudes tradition and simplicity.

Gelato: Italian ice cream, gelato, is known for its creamy texture and intense flavor. Various flavors such as chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, lemon, or pistachio make it a favorite dessert among both the local population and visitors to Italy. Gelato is often served in small local pastry shops (gelaterias) that have their own recipes and traditions.

Italian cuisine is enriched with regional variations and authentic ingredients that make every meal a special and unforgettable gastronomic experience.
The ways of preparing these three dishes are very different from the north to the south of Italy, so if you want to enjoy Italian cuisine, go in that order… 🙂
