When the road takes you towards Jablanica, then stop for the lamb at the restaurant Begović

One thing is known among the people here, when you are going back home from the seaside or a long vacation, and you are driving along an old road, then you have to stop somewhere for grilled lamb. As in Croatia, so in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and I believe in the entire Balkans. It is a respected tradition because they say that is when the lamb is the sweetest.

It is certainly not easy to choose a restaurant that delights, especially when there are those “routes” where they line up like an army at every turn. But, inspired by the trip through Bosnia and Herzegovina, because we truly love that beautiful scenic drive along the Neretva and Vrbas, on this hot summer day we almost reached Jablanica.

In previous trips to Bosnia and Herzegovina, we stopped at the well-known Zdrava voda on several occasions, but if you, like us, are afraid that by the time you get to it, there will be no more empty tables for you, know that there is also Begović restaurant two kilometers ahead.

As testing is not a pressure for us and we like to introduce our dear readers to new things, this time we gave it a chance so that you could do the same.

A kilometer before the restaurant, you could already smell the lamb that was just spinning on the spit. That’s it, it means it’s “fresh”.

You park your car and see, not one, but FIVE skewers turning, while the “juice” melts over the baked potatoes. This is a sign that you should find a free table as soon as possible and get ready to “grease up your mustache”.

Restaurant Begović is decorated with an interior part and an exterior, i.e. a terrace, so now choose whatever suits you. As it was summer at the time of our visit, we wanted to sit outside and enjoy the views created by the Bosnian queen – the Neretva.

The waiter hurriedly brought the menu and briefly introduced us to the rest of the offer. In addition to delicious lamb, in this restaurant, you can also enjoy veal under the honeycomb, kebabs and patties, sudžuk, trout, as well as various local dishes. So, if you are not a fan of the “sweetest” one, know that you have a choice.

To our table, the order came down quickly… a kilo of lamb with potatoes and one trout, please. Because after all, I personally don’t like lamb.

Don’t worry, before writing the article, I polled the rest of the team well and they all said that the lamb was great and that we should come here again. As for the fish, I couldn’t complain either.

What always surprises us, probably because we mostly visit restaurants in Croatia and Slovenia, is that you don’t have to worry about the price here. Thus, a kilo of lamb is 60 KM or 30 euros, and trout is only 10 KM or 5 euros. It can’t be better, says editor Zoran, I ate well, and my wallet didn’t even feel it
