Who makes the best strudels in Croatia? The Štrudlafest jury made a decision!

In case you already didn’t know, this weekend in Jaškovo near Karlovac, a festival dedicated to the most delicious strudels is happening.

Štrudlafest is one of the most known gastronomic events in the region and besides the promotion of strudel making, it promotes the traditional cuisine of this region and its tourist offer which you can also experience through Strudel Week in Karlovac County which is happening from August 28th until September 10th.

We wrote about this festival and what it brings to the table for visitors, and one of those things was a competition in strudel making.

The competition was tough. As many as ten competitors tried to present what means to make and bake the best strudles in the whole of Croatia.

The adrenaline was pumping, the time wasn’t anyone’s best friend, and the smell.. the smell of strudels was attracting visitors closer. Everyone wanted to be a part of the process.

Finally, when the clock stopped ticking, both visitors and competitors were waiting for the moment when the jury would decide who makes the best strudels in Croatia. The decision wasn’t easy to make…

In the end, the jury was impressed by the apple and grape strudel made by women from the Ogulin Women’s Association. Yes, the same recipe that won the Guinness record for the longest strudel in the world. Second place went to StarKA, while third place was reserved for Vrata Zagorja.

Next to over 100 varieties of strudels, these ladies can say that they are the masters of the craft!  Congratulations! 👏🏻
