The wonderful Blue Cave

The phenomenon of blue sea caves is very well known throughout the Mediterranean. They exist as major natural tourist attractions in Italy, Greece, Croatia, but also in Montenegro.

The famous Montenegrin Blue Cave is located on the Luštica peninsula, not far from the picturesque town of Herceg Novi. The turquoise blue sea, which breaks through the crystal clear rocks of the cave, creates spectacular plays of light and shadows.

To get to the Blue Cave, you can take a boat from Herceg Novi or Tivat. It can be entered by boat and swimming is allowed. It has two entrances, the first is wide but low, while the second is the opposite – narrow but high. The surface of the cave is about 300 square meters, and the sea is extremely clear and between 3 and 4 meters deep.

The best time to visit is during the morning or early afternoon when the sunlight penetrates the cave, creating wonderful light effects.

According to local stories, the Blue Cave was a hiding place for pirates who once navigated these waters. Legend has it that they hid their treasure inside the cave, although no treasure has been found to date. But who knows, maybe you just find it. 🙂
