The time has come! It’s time for Fuliranje
As the year draws to a close and the weather forecast suddenly changes direction, we all slowly become aware of that scent in the air—a smell that reminds us of the month of celebration and joy, of mulled wine, delicacies such as fritters and cooked sausages, and the one that spreads from the center of Zagreb and Strossmyer square.
Just yesterday, exactly at noon, another legendary “festival” of the best street food opened, that is, Fuliranje, which until January 7, 2025, will offer diverse pleasures in food, drink, and a great atmosphere at 16 stands.

For the 12th year in a row, Fuliranje brings entertainment for all ages to the upper city of Zagreb, and this year it will evoke the old splendor of this city through the theme from the cult film “One Song a Day Takes Mischief Away”, and will remind us of characters like Franjo Šafranek and Ernest Fulir, after whom this Advent event got its name, the organization says.

There will be something for everyone. The gastronomic offer will be richer than before, with as many as 57 different delicacies made up of traditional dishes such as krpice with sauerkraut and buncek, Zagorje soup, štrukle, soparnik, the famous Dalmatian prosciutto, various cheeses, and oils. But in addition to tradition, the organizers bring to Fuliranje various specialties from Italian and Asian cuisine, as well as a selection of food for the “soul” such as pizza, pasta, burgers, shish kebabs, and sausages. Sounds great, doesn’t it?
But what would Advent be without something sweet… At Fulinarje, desserts will be available that will go perfectly with various cocktails, mulled wines and gins, brandies, and beer. The offer will include Kaiserschmarrn with chocolate and jam, fritters in as many as six flavors, as well as the world-famous “Dubai” chocolate, which will be prepared for visitors of Fuliranje by the Gdje je Jura house.

As colorful as the food and drink offer is, there is still a lack of entertainment, so Fuliranje is not lacking in that either. This year’s music and entertainment program will be filled with diverse melodies such as “hits” on Mondays, hits from the 80s and 90s on Wednesdays, melodies from South and North America, Africa, Asia, and Europe through the program that will be held on Thursdays, mash-up of popular hits and genres on Fridays, and parties and matinees during the weekend by DJs chosen by Ozren Kanceljak.
Weekends will also be reserved for the youngest with diverse performances by Petra Radin’s Doll Factory theater with performances such as Santa’s Lost Beard on Sunday, December 1, Sloppy Santa Claus on Sunday, December 8, The Craziest Christmas Concert on Sunday, December 15, Three Kings on Sunday, December 22, and the Staub fairy tale on Sunday, December 29.

What is very interesting is that this year’s Fuliranje will also be dedicated to environmental care, which makes us happy. There will be no plastic packaging at the festival, and only reusable glasses will be used, which will be a great souvenir at the same time, the organization says. In addition, on December 5 from 5 pm, the Bic Pop workshop will be open in cooperation with the Zelena akcija, where you will be able to repair your bike with the help of volunteers on Strossmayer Square. On the same day, from 18:00, the lecture “Clean Underground” will be held in cooperation with the Croatian Speleological Association.
The Zelena akcija Green Smartphone promotion will take place on December 10 from 5:00 p.m., and on December 18 from 5:00 p.m. there is also an extremely popular Zelena akcija Swap Party promoting sustainable fashion. Visitors will be able to bring their boring pieces of clothing to Fuliranje and exchange them for pieces brought by someone else, the organization says.

A really rich program! It seems that there will be a lot more… as the organization says, a surprise New Year’s Eve concert is also expected…
