From Slovenia to Virovitica for a joyful weekend in Kurija Janković

Last week we shared an adventure that our dear giveaway winner Domagoj and his partner had in Sarajevo, and soon after that, we received another email from Tina (@bea_u_ti_na), a girl from Slovenia who won a beautiful weekend for two at Kurija Janković in Virovitica!

A giveaway we organized with our partner Kurija Janković was the third one out of four, and it was the giveaway we were most excited about as it was the most unique of them all.

So let’s see if dear Tina, who took a moment of her free time to write us this email, feels the same.

We are citing her email entirely…

I didn’t know much about the small town of Virovitica until recently, but that changed when I was drawn in a giveaway by Adria.fun and as the main prize I received a double night’s stay with breakfast at the hotel Kurija Janković. My friend and I went there at the end of July and I have to admit that it was a great decision, because the weather was ideal for exploring the surrounding places and the beautiful Pannonia with e-bikes, which you can rent at the hotel.

Since we started from Maribor, we visited the city of Varaždin along the way, which also impressed me with its beauty and cleanliness.

We arrived at Hotel Kurija Janković only late in the evening, where we were warmly welcomed at the reception. The ambiance of the hotel is wonderful, and the rooms are very spacious and nicely decorated.

For breakfast, I was positively surprised by the large selection. From baked eggs, hot dogs, sausages, homemade salami, cheeses, various spreads, yogurts, pudding, cereals, and also sweet croissants. You have a choice of whatever your heart desires.

We spent the first sunny day on an e-bike and drove across the border on a macadam road through beautiful fields, where we had a quick look at the Hungarian town of Barč, and then we rested a little on the beach by the river Drava, from where a long and well-maintained asphalt cycling path continues under the shade.

We returned to Hotel Kurija Janković by a different route, as we had a chance to choose from many of them. We drove alongside roads where there was almost no other traffic and were impressed by the well-kept older villages and fields.

On the second day, we woke up to a slightly cloudy day with light rain, so after breakfast and check out, we went to see the town of Virovitica, where we walked through the beautiful park around the Pejačević castle – the current museum of the town of Virovitica. We were impressed by the bridges around the castle, especially the musical bridge, on which you can play any melody, as the planks of the bridge represent piano keys. A nice surprise to end our weekend break.

I recommend Hotel Kurija Janković to anyone who wants peace and rest from the fast pace of life, because here, when you are surrounded by nature, time just stops.
Adria.fun thank you very much again for this. It was wonderful.

Greetings,
Tina

Once again we would love to thank our partner Kurija Janković for making this adventure happen and we want to thank Tina for her email wonderful pictures and Instagram stories.
