Have you heard about the two exceptional islets located in front of the coast of Petrovac?
Montenegro doesn’t have many islands like Croatia or Greece, but that’s why the ones it has are really special. 🙂
If you are looking for unusual and interesting destinations on the Montenegrin coast, don’t miss visiting the islands of Katič and Sveta Neđelja, which are located just one kilometer from the coast of Petrovac.

Katič is a rock, which rises from the sea and on which there is little vegetation. Various birds nest on it, which you can observe and listen to. There is also a small lighthouse on it.
But the real attraction of Katič is what lies beneath the surface: the beautiful underwater world, which fascinates with its diversity and colors. On Katič you can dive and explore reefs, caves, and numerous species of fish, shells, and corals. However, be careful because Katič is a nature park that has its limitations.

Sveta Neđelja is an islet on which there is a church of the same name, which is dedicated to that saint. The church was built in the 19th century, according to one legend, from sailors’ contributions, and according to another, from a Greek sailor who was saved on that island after a shipwreck.
The church is small and modest but has a special charm and spirituality. Icons, pictures, and other items donated by believers and pilgrims are stored in it. Sveta Neđelja is a place to pray for health, happiness, and love, and some couples come here to get married or renew their vows.

The islets of Katič and Sveta Neđelja can be reached by boat, which departs from Petrovac. The ride takes about 15 minutes. You can also rent a boat or kayak if you are more adventurous. Some brave ones decide to swim from Petrovac and then ring the church bells.
There are no other facilities on the islands, so bring food, drink, and sun protection. Also, be careful when entering and exiting the water, as there are sharp rocks and urchins.
If you decide to come to Katič and Sveta Neđelja, don’t rush! Enjoy the wonderful view, the smell of the sea, and the sound of the waves, and you will feel the wonderful energy and magic of these exceptional islands.
