Out of a total of seven lakes that adorn this valley, Dvojno Lake stands out. Located in the heart of the park, at an altitude of 1,685 meters above sea level, this lake is one of the most beautiful natural sights in the region. Its location is surrounded by impressive mountain peaks such as Bela glava, Kopica, Kovačič glava, Mala and Velika Tičarica, Lopučnica mountain, Ovčarija mountain, Rušnata glava, Visoka glava and Peak over Vodeno Rupo, and lush alpine meadows and rocky ridges that create a stunning contrast.
The lake bears its name because of its unique characteristic – it is composed of two interconnected parts. At higher water levels, both parts merge into one, while in summer, when the water level is lower, they differ. With a length of 330 meters and a maximum depth of 7 meters, Dvojno lake captivates visitors with its emerald-green color, which comes from the reflection of the surrounding peaks, blue sky, and untouched nature.

The way to the Dvojno Lake leads along marked paths that pass through the Valley of Seven Lakes. Hikers pass through picturesque alpine meadows, rocky terrain, and pine forests, enjoying a unique combination of natural beauty and silence. Near the lake is Koča pri Triglavske jezeri, one of the oldest mountain lodges in Slovenia. This favorite haven offers the opportunity to rest, enjoy the local cuisine, or spend the night.
As a protected area within the national park, Dvojno lake and the surrounding valley are home to numerous endemic species of plants and animals. The Triglav rose and alpine amphibians live here. Visitors are advised to follow the rules of nature conservation – walking along marked paths, avoiding littering, and refraining from swimming in the lake are key to preserving this delicate natural balance.
