Seven lakes Valley in Triglav
In the heart of the Triglav National Park, between Bohinj and Trento, in the higher areas lies the picturesque Valley of the Triglav Lakes. Here, seven large lakes and several quite small ones mirror the mighty Triglav and the exceptional mountain landscape. Put down your backpack, sit by the crystal clear water, and enjoy the freshness offered by the clean mountain air.
The first is Vršac lake (1993 m), which can be covered with ice even in summer. A little further south is another, Rjavo lake, which is 150 m long, 100 m wide, and up to 10 m deep. Nearby is Green lake in a flat basin, which is slightly green due to algae. It is up to 2 m deep.
The fourth lake, 300 m long, 120 m wide, and up to 15 m deep, is the largest and deepest Triglav Lake, which is why it is called the Big lake (1830 m). The fifth and sixth lakes, Dvojno lake (1685 m) have an aquamarine color. The seventh lake, the Black Lake, got its name from its position in a hollow in the middle of the forest. Due to its relatively low altitude (1319 m), it is the warmest of the seven lakes. It is 150 m long, 80 m wide, and up to 6 m deep.
The valley of the Triglav Lakes is accessible from several sides, and the most beautiful entries are from the Bohinj side via the Blata mountain, next to the source of Savica, or via Komna.
