The Sotire waterfall springs miraculously from a longitudinal crack in the steep limestone rock!
The mountain waters, which flow from Mount Tomorr through the rough limestone cliffs, create the unique Sotira waterfall (Alb. Ujëvara e Sotirës), one of the many Albanian wonders of nature that attracts an increasing number of tourists every year.
Its waters fall from different heights, from 20 to 100 meters, then break at high speeds against the stone cliffs below the waterfall and create an unforgettable, hypnotic scene!

To get to this natural phenomenon, you have to go to the town of Gramsh (Elbasan district), which is about 80 kilometers south of the capital Tirana.
The Sotira waterfall is about 16 kilometers from Gramsho, so first you drive on a winding and unpaved road to the village of Sotire for about an hour. When you reach the village, you will have to walk another hour and a half to the waterfall, unless you have a good all-terrain vehicle.

The surrounding nature is untouched, bathed in stunning greenery and freshness created by several springs scattered along the entire trail. At the end, the Sotira waterfall appears in its full and deafening glory!
Thanks to the idyllic meadow nearby, you will be able to enjoy spectacular views and the surrounding landscape. This is a hot spot for nature lovers!

The river Sotire, which creates this wonderful waterfall, flows through the surrounding forest, giving the already stunning panorama a perfect frame. With the right pair of shoes, you might even be able to get closer to the waterfall.
However, walk carefully because the terrain can be quite slippery!
The waterfall is the richest in the spring and early summer, after the winter melting of the surrounding snow, so I recommend that you venture on this unforgettable trip right after it. 🙂
