There is a paradise on Žumberak!
Žumberak Gorje is the right place to explore the beautiful nature, it is easily accessible, and it is located between Karlovac and Zagreb, and it is also partly in Slovenia, where the area is called Gorjanci.
The entire area is networked with mountain streams and waterfalls, inhabited by brown trout.

This was also the reason that, after several hours of hiking in the Slapnica river valley, I looked for a restaurant that serves fresh trout.

Unusually, I found out about the Žumberački raj (raj – eng. paradise) restaurant when I came across two ladies from Žumberak at the source of a mountain stream. They directed me to it, stressing that I would find what I was looking for in it.
That’s how I got to Žamarija, where Žumberački raj is located in a small valley, and the solid attendance of the facility told me that this place is very popular for excursionists.

While I was waiting for the ordered dish, I walked around the area a bit, and behind the restaurant, I saw the trout ponds, which was proof that I would taste the freshest possible fish.

And finally, the food arrived. The delicious trout with baked potatoes was really tasty, and as far as I could see, this specialty of Žumberački raj was eaten at most of the other tables.

And now the prices. A portion of trout is 7.20 euros, baked potatoes 2.80, cabbage salad is 2.40, and beer and juices are 2.30 euros each. All in all, it seems to me that the prices are moderate, the service is correct, and the pleasure is maximum!
