Through the impressive canyon of the Morača River
Despite being smaller in size compared to other countries in the Adria region, Montenegro can definitely take pride in its extensive offer of canyon experiences. Next to the largest canyon of the Tara River, the exciting Nevidio Canyon, the enchanting Piva River Canyon, the miraculous Mrtvica Canyon, and sweet Gerla and Skudra canyons, Montenegro also has Morača River Canyon.
As the second-largest canyon in the country, the Morača River Canyon is undoubtedly a true haven for canyon enthusiasts and nature lovers alike.

The total length of the river is around 113 kilometers and it stretches from the mountain Rzač where it springs to Lake Skadar, into which it flows in. On its way, Morača River also becomes a symbol of Podgorica where it merges with its largest tributary Zeta River.
Although it is a quiet shallow river, its 1000-meter canyon is famous for being one of the hardest to pass through and considered pretty dangerous. The road is tiring and for that reason, many accidents happen specifically in the area of Dromira. Additionally, when it rains the water tends to gush from the mountains around it.
Among the major attractions within the Morača River Canyon are undoubtedly the lookout points that offer breathtaking views of the canyon’s beauty, the Morača monastery, and Waterall Svetigora. Additionally, the presence of cable bridges adds a unique charm to the landscape. These bridges, still in use by locals residing on the opposite side, serve as both functional structures and tourist attractions.
Although the bridges are great places to take even greater photos, we must advise you to be safe as the bridges are, due to their old age, very deteriorated.
