Maslinica, a super nautical destination on Šolta
Last year I went sailing for the first time, a good team arranged itself, so four days passed just like that. The tour started in Mimice near Omiš, then we went around Brač, towards Hvar, Vis, and Biševo, and on the way back we spent the night in Maslinica on the island of Šolta. That place remained in my fond memory. 🙂
In front of the bay itself is an archipelago of seven islets (Polebrnjak, Saskinja, Stipanska, Kamik, Balkun, Rudula, and Grmej). The settlement itself developed around the castle, which was built in 1708 by the noble Marchi family.
It is indeed very well arranged and beautiful. Today it is an exceptional heritage hotel because the 300-year-old castle has been skilfully restored and offers luxurious, individually decorated apartments, even has its own helipad and a wonderful restaurant. So cool!

With the renovation of the castle and the construction of the marina, this small, once fishing village slowly turned into a tourist and nautical center of the island, welcoming an increasing number of guests and lovers of Maslinica every year.

I was very impressed by the cleanliness and tidiness of the marina and the whole place, so we walked around a bit because there are restaurants and cafes lined up around the bay. At the end of the bay there is a great place called Punta, where you can sit on benches and watch a fascinating sunset.

This tourist center is interesting for lovers of nature, natural beaches, and clear sea, and recently it is a favorite destination for cyclists, rowers, and sailors, as well as lovers of diving, sport fishing, and hunting.
If you are adventurous, you can dare to ride a jet ski or bask in the sun or go on a trip to the neighboring bay of Šipkova, where you will find a sandy beach – the only one of its kind on the island!
