Discover Trasimeno: a pearl among Italian lakes

Lake Trasimeno covers an area of ​​128 square kilometers, but its average depth is only 4 meters. Located at an altitude of 258 meters, this lake has a tectonic origin, formed more than 300,000 years ago. Its surroundings abound with hills covered with olive groves, vineyards, and forests.

Historically, the lake is known for the Battle of Lake Trasimeno in 217 BC. BC, during which the Carthaginian general Hannibal ambushed the Roman legions, inflicting one of the greatest defeats in history. The lake has three islands: Isola Maggiore, Isola Polvese, and Isola Minore.
