Holta canyon seems to be out of this planet

Imagine a place where the silence is thunderous, where lush greenery overwhelms the cliffs above you, and crystal blue water caresses your feet as it creates small waterfalls on its way through the canyon.

Welcome to Holta Canyon (al. Kanioni i Holtës), a hidden gem of Albania, whose beauty remains unknown to most people. It is located less than a two-hour drive from the capital Tirana, near the town of Gramsh, and although it is often described as a mythological place, it is pretty real!

Holta Canyon, created by the erosion of the Holta River, stretches an impressive 3 kilometers from the village of Bardhaj to Kabash. The surrounding slopes reach a height of 100-150 meters, and the water passing through the canyon is crystal clear and, in some places, almost 3 meters deep.

But this is not just an ordinary canyon; this is a magical area that hides karst caves formed by limestone rocks, decorated with stalactites and stalagmites of rare beauty.

The culmination of the journey through the canyon is a magnificent rock reminiscent of a mythical age, bringing the impression of a modern Odyssey. However, unlike the Odyssey, the journey through Holta Canyon is completely safe, peaceful, and beautiful.

This place will bring out the explorer within you who bravely discovers the unknown while absorbing the magic of the canyon with every next step.

Note for future explorers! The best time to visit this magical place is from spring to early autumn. In periods of heavy rain, the river can rise, which makes it difficult to reach the end of the canyon.

So plan your trip carefully and experience the magic of Holta Canyon in its full glory.
