Pizzeria Kut is a great place if you want a classic pizza or fine ćevapi

While many are only now heading to their favorite holiday destinations, our vacation is already behind us. My choice, as it is every year, was the island of Vis. No matter how many times I return, I always discover something new, something I still need to explore or at least try. This year, it was time to visit Pizzeria Kut, located in the part of the town of Vis that shares the same name.

During the summer months, it’s well known that island restaurants typically open later in the afternoon, so finding a place that’s open during what we consider “lunchtime” can be quite the challenge. Luckily, this charming little spot in the secondary marina happened to be open right when that craving for pizza hit me. In case you didn’t know, I have this inexplicable need for pizza as soon as I get to the coast. Sure, I eat fish too, of course, but somehow that specific pizza craving always shows up when I’m by the sea or on vacation.
But let’s get to the point…

Pizzeria Kut is tucked into the very corner of Eugen Kvaternik Square, right by the sea and the mooring docks. While you enjoy the view of sailboats and endless blue horizons, you’ll hear the gentle sound of waves softly lapping against the shore in the background. The restaurant is spread across three sections: a seaside terrace, a covered terrace, and an indoor dining area. There’s enough space, no exaggeration, for an entire cruise ship if needed.

Although it was around 2 PM and the place was already partially full, the waiter quickly came over with a simple question: “What would you like to drink?” A cold beer, two radlers, and one functional drink were on the table within minutes. Exactly what we needed for a proper bit of summer refreshment.

The order was clear from the start: three pizzas and one portion of ćevapi landed on our table. If pizza isn’t your thing, you’ll be glad to know the menu also offers burgers, grilled dishes, gnocchi, and various pastas. So, whatever you fancy, go for it.

As we gazed out at the sea and passed the time chatting, the moment of truth arrived, tasting. And let me tell you right away: if you’re craving that “real,” classic pizza we all grew up with, you’ll find it here. No overthinking, no fancy twists, just good dough, the right balance of ingredients, and flavors that take you straight back to childhood.

Hunger didn’t wait, of course, the plates emptied in a flash, and our stomachs were more than satisfied.

And the prices? Well, they’re coastal. Capricciosa is €14, the Kut pizza with kulen and pancetta goes for €15, the veggie version is €13.80, and the portion of ćevapi is €14. Drinks are mostly between €4.50 and €5. Nothing shocking for a seasonal island spot right by the sea.

So in the end, all I can say is this: if you ever find yourself in Kut and hunger strikes before 6 PM, you’ll know exactly where to sit. The pizzas are solid, the vibe is relaxed, and the view is free. As for me, I already know I’ll be coming back.
