Alpaca ranch – real attraction for a weekend trip
Alpacas, cute animals that recently became so popular all over the world are species of South American mammals, that share similar genetics to camels. However, don’t mix them with llamas, as they tend to be much smaller and are only bred for their fleece. Just like unicorns, alpacas became every little girl’s dream. Now you can find all kinds of toys, soaps, bedsheets, and even cakes and cookies in the shape of alpacas.
Although, far from their original environment, real-life examples can also be found in the Adria region. One now already popular ranch appeared in the small municipality of Poljčane, about a 30-minute drive from Maribor.

According to the Alpaca Ranch Slovenia owners, the story began in 2018, when they brought a few female alpacas to their family home as pets. Since all of them were female, and enjoyed their company so much, they decided to bring some males as well. As the popularity all over social media grew, they opened their doors to visitors as well. Currently, they own more than 25 of them.

To make your trip to their ranch even more entertaining, they planned out a whole range of activities in which you will learn more about these adorable animals, have the opportunity to feed them, and take pictures. At the end of your tour, you will also be able to try some homemade cold cuts, local wines, and juices.

Visit to Alpac Ranch Slovenia for children up to 4 years old is free, from 4 to 14 years old the ticket costs 11 €, and for adults €21. Before you make a plan for your weekend trip, you need to know that appointment is mandatory.
Can I find alpacas in the rest of the Adria region?
Yes, however, we found them only in Croatia. There are 2 publicly known places.
