Beautiful nature, history and good beer are just some of the reasons to visit Laško

I like to visit small places, they are always my first choice compared to big cities. One such place is Laško, a place with beautiful nature, rich history, and good Laško beer.

Laško is located in a valley along the river Savinja and at the foot of the hill Hum, which is also called Laško’s Triglav because of its steepness which dominates the place. But on the other side of the river Savinja, there are hills on the tops of which there are beautiful little churches, so the whole place seems idyllic.

Laško is also known for its thermal and spa facilities, so I recommend a visit to Thermana Laško for hedonistic enjoyment of massages, wellness, good food, and top-notch service.

Along the Savinja River is also a wonderful promenade for long walks, especially after you pamper yourself with a delicacy like Laško medenka or, for example, good beer, which we tasted at affordable prices in the center of the town at Pivnica Savinja. Half a liter of Laško beer is 2.5 euros.

Above the village, at the foot of Hum, is the Tabor castle, which is worth visiting. The castle was first mentioned in 1265, it served as a defense against Turkish conquests, and over the centuries it often changed owners. It was renovated in the nineties of the last century, and now it houses a famous restaurant, which unfortunately was closed at the time of my visit.

The place is full of beautiful and interesting buildings, and everything is neat and clean, so the pleasure of walking through the narrow city streets is exceptional.

There is a lot to see in the surroundings of Laško. I single out the beautiful Lahomniška waterfall, a minute’s drive from Laško. A great path leads to it, suitable for children, so the tour will be a real pleasure.

Laško is a place you should visit at any time of the year because it will surprise you every time with its beauty, hospitality, and warmth. I will be back too. 🙂
