Ideal for pilgrims and excursionists – Hotel Koliba

When I was planning my trip to Montenegro, I included the famous Ostrog monastery in the narrowest circle of places I must visit. On the way to this Montenegrin sanctuary, in an ideal position in BogetićiHotel Koliba is located.

Starting from Nikšić, I turned towards Bogetići, so Hotel Koliba was already visible from afar, so I couldn’t miss it, and the sultry day and the heat of the heated car was softened by the carport in the parking lot below the restaurant. The view of the valley from that place was incredible.

Within the hotel Koliba, there is also a famous national restaurant with excellent and autochthonous dishes prepared in a traditional way, such as porridge, kačamak, dried sheep smoked cut, prosciutto, veal or lamb under the bell, homemade cheese and kajmak… The terrace of the restaurant, in addition to the excellent view, provided me with protection from the strong sun, which reached 36 degrees that day.

For dinner I chose a dessert instead of a classic meal, so I tasted exceptional Montenegrin pancakes, and for breakfast the next morning a delicious omelet.

As I was quite tired, I was looking forward to resting in one of the cabins, which are located right next to the restaurant, and where I was accommodated by the friendly hosts.

Koliba is traditionally decorated, so I felt more like I had arrived in a beautiful Montenegrin mountain house than in a hotel. The hut had a large room on the first floor and another one on the ground floor where the living room was located. After all, see for yourself what it looks like from the inside.

Hotel Koliba really offers a different kind of vacation compared to a classic hotel, so if you like something different and authentic, I strongly recommend that you spend the night in one of them and then continue your journey.

Just like I did! 🙂
