Teran Wine & Walk
Wine and nature lovers already know that on September 30, the Teran Wine & Walk adventure in Motovun takes place. It is already late for this year’s application, and those who did it in time know that an inspiring walk awaits them, top Istrian winemakers, local producers, and restaurateurs at refreshment stations.
The path is 12 kilometers long and almost entirely passes through vineyards and offers a wonderful view of Motovun, the most attractive Istrian medieval town, known for its excellent wines.
The start and end of the trail is the beautiful Winery & Design Hotel Roxanich, whose impressive winery is located on five underground floors.
From the Roxanich winery, the road leads to the legendary Parenzana, once a 123-kilometer narrow-gauge railway that connected Trieste and Poreč, and today one of the most popular bike & trail trails in this part of Europe.
A special attraction will be passing through the Motovun tunnel (222 m), the longest tunnel on the entire Parenzana route.
On Parenzana there is also the first wine & walk station, and from the lookout point along the path, there is a beautiful view of Motovun and the Mirna valley.
Then descend from Parenzana and take idyllic paths through the vineyards to the village of Bataji, where the Fakin winery is located – the second stop.
The path continues through the vineyards to the top of Monte Šandrin – the third stop, from which you can see the most beautiful views of Motovun.
We then leave towards the town of Brkač, which was already inhabited in prehistoric times, as evidenced by numerous archaeological finds. From Brkač, we return to Parenzana and slowly reach Rodeli, where the Fachin winery is located – the fourth stop.
From Rodeli, the path towards the top of Šublenta hill leads us through forest areas, and at the end of the forest, a view opens up towards Karojba. The fifth station is located on top of Šublenta hill, which is dominated by the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, built in the 17th century on the site of the former Benedictine abbey.
From Šublenta, the path leads you back towards Motovun and the Tomaz winery, which is the sixth stop. After that, we return to the starting point – to the Roxanich winery, where the seventh, and last refreshment station is located, and where the party continues with a DJ!
