You haven’t been to Berat if you haven’t visited the Bogova waterfall
Once you visit Albania, upon returning home, you will realize that you haven’t actually seen nearly as much as you still have to. Whichever city you visit, there is a new gem nearby that you simply won’t get to see.
But suppose you visited Berat and you haven’t gone to the Sotira waterfall, Mount Tomorr and Abaz Ali Türba shrine, Osum Canyon, or the Bogova waterfall, then you haven’t really visited it.
But that’s why you now have the opportunity to get to know the Bogova waterfall, one of the most sought-after excursions in the city, even online, until the next time you head to its vicinity.

Located in the small village of Bogova, after which both the nature park and the waterfall are named, there is a magical turquoise waterfall hidden in the very canyon of the Osum River at the foot of Mount Tomorr. All of them were named after the Slavic name for God, and translated from Albanian it would mean that this whole region is “given by the gods”, which it truly is.

Bogova Waterfall is only 40 minutes away from the village, but it is certainly worth every second. At the end of the trail itself, which you can only take on foot from the designated parking lot, there is a 20-meter-high waterfall that falls from a cliff into a turquoise 12-meter-deep pool.
It is a wonderful scenario surrounded by nature and the murmur of water that then continues its flow further down the mountain.
The waterfall is also attractive for swimming, but you must know that only the bravest dare to. The water is quite cold, and even on the hottest days, it is only 10 degrees Celsius.
Of course, more or less all visitors dare to enter, even for a short time, because you can’t go home without a photo.
Bogova Waterfall, although it is one of the most sought-after excursions in the city, does not have as many visitors as some of the more famous places, so you will most likely come across only a few adventurers who made as much effort as you to reach it. It is a great opportunity to go there as soon as possible and enjoy the nature and scenery in peace.

The trail is not difficult, but many travelers have complained that no enough signs are showing the way. However, according to many suggestions, the easiest way to find it is to ask the locals and follow the bridges that you have to cross along the way.
What is very interesting about the canyon itself that leads to the Bogova waterfall is that in winter, due to the position of the sun, not much light passes through it, so as the water and moisture accumulate, it looks as if it is constantly raining in that part.
If you get the chance, definitely visit it!
