Escape cold January! Fly to Malaga for less than 70 euros

Despite the fact that January temperatures in recent years haven’t reached the absolute coldest extremes, traveling to one of the warmest places in Europe does sound like a compelling idea. While some may find joy in exploring local ski destinations in Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Albania, or Western/Central European spots like France or Austria, others may seek something different for their winter getaway.

 

To add a touch of warmth to the days for those favoring shorts over ski boots, we delved into flight options and discovered that in January, you can venture to Malaga for less than 70 euros. The round trip takes you from Zagreb airport to Malaga, and in just under 4 hours, you can immerse yourself in the sunny atmosphere of this beautiful Spanish destination.

Things to see in Malaga

Of course, we can’t leave you with just flight details, so here is a list of a few things you can see in Malaga. In addition to nightlife, local cuisine, and various cultural events you can visit the following:

 

1.Alcazaba

Considered to be one of the most beautiful and best-preserved alcazabas in Spain, Alcazaba is a historic fortress that dates back to the 11th century during the Arab invasion. The fortress provides a breathtaking view of the city and it is connected to the Castle of Gibralfaro creating a captivating historical complex.

 

 

 

 

2.Gibralfaro Castle (Castillo de Gibralfaro)

Sitting on the hill right by Alcazaba, Gibralfaro Castle, definitely has an even better view of the city. This lovely castle dates to the 10th century. It can be easily accessed either by foot from Alcazaba or by a short bus ride.

 

3. Malaga Cathedral (Catedral de la Encarnación)

Malaga Cathedral stands as an iconic symbol of the city, renowned as the most famous Roman Catholic church in the region, distinguished by its distinctive feature—a missing portion that adds a unique and intriguing aspect to its architectural identity.

4. Malaga Park (Parque de Málaga)
If you love spending time surrounded by lush greenery then Malaga Park is the perfect place for that. There you will be able to enjoy all kinds of tropical vegetation, numerous fountains, and sculptures.

 

5. Port of Malaga

For those who prefer spending time savoring refreshments and good food while shopping, the Port of Malaga will satisfy just about that.

6. Picasso Museum

If you love art then a museum of the renowned artist Pablo Picasso sounds like a great plan. The museum has an extensive collection of his work.

 

7. Catch sun rays at the best beaches

Although the water temperature might not be warm enough for swimming, enjoying beaches such as La Malagueta, Playa de la Caleta, Playa de la Misericordia, Playa de Pedregalejo, Playa de El Palo, Playa de Guadalmar, and Playa de Benajarafe sound like a perfect opportunity to catch some sun rays and grasp on serotonin.
