Experience the Best Skiing in Bosnia and Herzegovina

As winter is slowly approaching and plans for skiing should be made, we continue with our series of articles about the best ski resorts in the Adria region. In our first article, we introduced you to the top 5 ski resorts in Slovenia and today we will continue with the ones in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

 

There are, of course, more than five resorts, but the following ones are the most visited and appreciated by locals and tourists.

Jahorina – PALE

Olympic Center Jahorina resort is located within close distance of Sarajevo, around 30 kilometers to be exact and it got its name after the alpine skiing competition during the Winter Olympics that took place in 1984. It is the largest and the most popular of them all, making it first on our list as well. This ski resort stands between 1,300 and 1,890 meters above sea level, it has 47 km of slopes available and 17 lifts for transport.

babin do – Bjelasnica

Bjelasnica, a mountain located 36 kilometers away from Sarajevo, is part of the Dinaric Alps and is one of the most prominent and popular mountains in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Bjelasnica stands at an elevation of 2,067 meters above sea level, making it the third-highest mountain in the country and a perfect place for a ski resort. Ski Center Bjelasnica has 14.3 km of slopes available for skiing, snowboarding, and cross-country skiing with a total of 9 lifts for transport.

Ravna Planina

 

Ski Centar Ravna Planina is located only 20 kilometers from Sarajevo and is smaller than  Jahorina and Bjelasnica, but nothing less significant and important. In addition to skiing, this ski resort also offers trails for snowmobiles, a ski school, and trails for children. Situated at an altitude of 920 to 1281 meters, it offers 12.5 km of trails and 3 cable cars for transportation.

 

Kupres – Čajuša

Adria Ski Kupres is located about 10 kilometers from the town of Kupres and about 40 kilometers from Livno. The ski resort is slightly bigger than the Ski center Ravna Planina with 13 kilometers of ski slopes and equipped with 5 ski lifts. This ski resort is very good for beginners and children and they also offer skiing and snowboarding school.

Vlašić – Babanovac

Vlasic Ski Center is located in Šišava village about 20 kilometers away from Travnik. This ski resort is the smallest of the five but has charming scenery and cross-country skiing opportunities. It is situated between 1,220 and 1,520 meters above sea level. The resort offers 9.5 km of slopes and 6 lifts for transport. The resort is very good for children and beginners.
