Škofja Loka, a picturesque medieval town located at the confluence of the Poljanska and Selška Sora rivers, approximately 25 kilometers northwest of Ljubljana, stands out from other Slovenian cities. The history of the city takes us to the year 973, when the German emperor Otto II. donated this area to Bishop Abraham of Freising. Over the centuries, the city developed under his administration, which left a deep mark on its development and architecture. Despite the devastating earthquake in 1511, Škofja Loka was rebuilt and has preserved its medieval appearance to this day. After that, the city developed as an important trade center in the region, and today it is a real small open-air museum.

• Skofja Loka Castle & Museum: An impressive castle above the town, which today has been turned into a museum with a rich collection of artefacts depicting the history of the region.
• Old Loka Castle: The castle that was built in the 15th century is still a cultural monument of national importance. There used to be a defensive moat around the castle, which is now buried.

• Mestni trg (Main square): The main town square surrounded by colorful buildings perfectly evokes the charm of Škofje Loka and is an ideal place for a walk and a coffee.
• Capuchin bridge: The stone bridge from the 14th century over the river Sora is one of the oldest preserved bridges in Central Europe.

One of the most famous dishes is Visoko roast, which originates from the village of Visoko, located in Poljana valley, not far from the city itself. It used to be prepared on the estate, and today you can taste it in many local restaurants. It consists of a pork cutlet, stuffed with carrots, lemon, garlic, parsley, and bay leaves, and the taste of this dish will delight you.
