Tavern Lem provided the perfect dinner in Vrboska
I hope no one will mind that I am writing this story almost a year later. Every summer, we work at full speed to bring you the freshest experiences, yet some, unfortunately, still slip by. From our tours, we always return with so many impressions that we have enough material to write about for the whole year, but sometimes a story hides deep in the folders of our server, waiting for its moment to shine.
This story about a restaurant in Vrboska, more precisely the tavern Lem, is one I could never forget, even if I wanted to. The waiter entertained us so much that he remained etched in my memory. Still, what brought me to this bay on Hvar in the first place was a stone beauty, the Church Fortress of St. Mary of Mercy, which we have already written about. If you are curious, you can read about it here.

After the sightseeing, on our way back, we strolled along the waterfront toward the Fishermen’s Museum, which unfortunately had still not officially opened last summer. That is when we came across this tavern, whose waiter was walking in front of the entrance, luring guests with witty remarks such as, “The food is great here, just look at me.” I fell for one of those lines, and together with the rest of the group, I hurried in for a light dinner.
At first glance, the restaurant does not seem large, but its terrace could easily deceive you. It stretches both lengthwise and crosswise, and as the evening grew darker, it became more and more crowded by the minute. And honestly, who would not want to dine in such surroundings, with a view of the bay, the small islet of Škojić in the middle, surrounded by colorful flowers and boats gently rocking on the water. A true seaside and summer atmosphere.

When we arrived, there was still no big crowd, so the waiter quickly seated us at a table with the best view and briefly introduced the menu. In the end, the choice fell on a salad for gourmets, as it was described on the menu, which in reality turned out to be a very tasty salad with shrimp and smoked salmon. Perfect and light.
Then came an excellent grilled tuna with Swiss chard and potatoes, followed by an even better gilt-head bream. Alongside that arrived fresh flatbread brushed with olive oil. As I said, a light dinner.

As for the service, I have no complaints, and for the waiter who stood in front of the entrance, we have nothing but praise. Without his jokes, we probably would not have stopped for dinner at all, as it is not really our usual style. We also noticed that many others did the same because of him.
We hope he has continued to work in the same way this year as well.

As for the prices, here is how it was last summer. For three people, dinner with the mentioned dishes, a liter of house wine, a liter of sparkling water, and one juice cost 102 euros. It seemed quite reasonable to us for July on Hvar. What do you think?
