Slovenia in two days
I like to travel and get to know the world, and one of my unfulfilled wishes was to go to my nearby Slovenia. I had been planning a short tour of the country in two days with my boyfriend for some time, so the choice had to be simple and proven. Everything in Slovenia was new to me anyway, so I couldn’t make a mistake. 🙂
And so, at the beginning of February this year, we embarked on an adventure, and we set off early in the morning with my car (jeez 6 in the morning!!!!). We took the old road because we wanted to see as much as possible and save money. Our first stop was Brežice, where we ate prepared sandwiches at lightning speed because the wind was blowing so hard that we froze almost in a second (brrr).
Driving along a winding road, we then reached Novi Mesto. At first, we were delighted by the appearance of the city itself, the friendliness of the people and the reasonable prices, but there was not much time for a detailed tour. As we both start the morning with coffee, and we didn’t manage to drink it that morning, we headed to the first coffee shop in town. By a game of fate, the choice fell on the Veritas bar.

Veritas is an interesting place with a pleasant interior and affordable prices. We paid about €2 for two coffees, we spent about half an hour there, and the staff was very friendly.
We then continued our journey towards Ljubljana. Since check-in at the Cha Cha Rooms hostel was at 2 p.m., and we arrived much earlier, we decided to go on a short tour of the city.
After the tour, we were hungry, so we decided to find a decent restaurant nearby, which has good reviews because we wanted to treat ourselves fairly. And it didn’t take us long to explore. We decided to eat at Gostilna Breg. As a starter we took 2 soups, mine was a cream soup made of cauliflower and broccoli, and my boyfriend took a clear soup. The main course was finger-licking, the choice fell on veal cheeks in cranberry sauce and mashed potatoes, and then we tasted two glasses of red wine, at the suggestion of the waiter, whose name I did not remember. I meant, name of the wine. 🙂
The lunch was around €60, its round because I don’t know the exact cent, but if anything, you have a warm recommendation for this restaurant from us.
AFTER LJUBLJANA, DIRECTION BLED
After a good night’s sleep and a nice breakfast, on the second day of our tour of Slovenia, we continued with testing sweets, so we tried the traditional Slovenian dessert Kurtoš. Its price is €10, but I rate it 7/10. The portion is very large, you can choose what you want as filling.
From Ljubljana, we then headed towards Bled. It took us about two hours to get there with the old road, with a view of beautiful mountains and landscaped surroundings, and you have to pass at least a dozen road rotors, but it’s worth it. Because Bled is fantastic!!!
Parking is charged €2/€3 per hour, depending on where. The length of the lake is slightly more than 2 km, the width is 1.3 km, and the greatest depth is about 30 meters. It takes about an hour and a half to walk around the lake, but after we started the tour, my boyfriend noticed the stairs leading to the castle on the rock above the lake. We decided to climb up.
The climb is not easy for me, who is not very fit, but it is what it is. After we lost our souls (I remembered the all saints several times !!), and it took us about 15 minutes to get up, disappointment followed!!! The entrance fee is €15 per person, so we gave it up in favor of something nice to eat. We went back down and sought comfort and rest in the Rustika pizzeria since the restaurants around the lake were full.
The pizza was superb, the prices range from €13-15, and the taste was 10/10. We quickly recovered from our previous effort, but there was not much time left for further exploration as it was time to return home.
Full of impressions on the way back, we forged our new plans for one-day trips, which I will write about in one of my next posts. If you want, feel free to leave a comment on my experience or give me your recommendation for a new trip!
